A fine hard bop-based pianist, Mark Little made his debut as a leader on this CD. Little performs the modern straight-ahead music with bassist Tim Hauff Tim, drummer Curt Moore and guest tenor saxophonist Alex Murzyn (who is on four of the dozen selections). Little contributed four originals (including "Rokminoff" and "Speak of the Devil" (one of two unaccompanied piano solos) and Hauff brought in "Algo Bossa," otherwise the repertoire is comprised mostly of standards. Highlights include "When I Grow Too Old to Dream," "My One and Only Love," and Benny Carter’s "Only Trust Your Heart." Well worth searching for.
